IT'S WEAPONS OF MASS DECEPTION (OR LOOTERS)

So, let me get this straight: WMD doesn't stand for weapons of mass destruction, as some have suggested, but for weapons of mass deception?

No, insists National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites). She suggested last week that it may in fact be the Iraqi looters who were to blame for the WMD's disappearance.

Oh. Who wouldn't want to take home something in a nice missile silo? Only problem is how you'd get a thing like that home without being noticed.

And since prewar Iraq (news - web sites) had fewer cars than Havana, it's doubtful you could transport it by donkey since even the biggest jackass can't haul more than, say, 25 tons at a time.

And even if you did get it home, where would you stash such a thing? In the garden?

Of course, Rice may have been referring to the vials of anthrax and all manner of deadly pox that also didn't turn up.

One intelligence (or in this case, counterintelligence, literally) report showed that a loose looter was heard shouting while stuffing a mysterious vial into his pocket (who knew galabayyas even had pockets!), 'By George, I think I've got it!'

However, when said looter tried to hawk the mysterious substance on the black market, it turned out to be his neighbor's urine sample. 'Damned drug testing,' he was then heard to shout as he made fast tracks out of Tikrit. "
